D-Day

It's 26th already and I am still not sure who to vote for.

Apart from winning the war (which was a great feat) MR really hasn't done anything extraordinary. And the fact that he called the election early shows that he wanted to secure more number of years as the president while the proverbial iron is hot.

On the other side, SF is a strange fellow - mysterious, bitter and with a shady past. To me, his intentions are purely to take revenge from the Rajapaksa's family. And I don't care much for his bedfellows (JVP) either. Although I sympathise with him for how he was treated by the government in the recent past, I can't risk the country's future on a personal vendetta between him and MR.

So I will probably end up voting for MR. I guess the known devil is better than the unknown one. Then again, there are 18 other candidates too...

Can we say this. Look at how many projects going on. I don't say they're not corrupted. But they all delivered.

If you take teh list of corruption claims of SF campaign and look at teh outcome of each such project, there is a considerable material outcome from each. Now compare that to prev leaders? Which of them, until 1970 at least have done so many. JRJ only has done Mahaweli project. Premadasa - clock towers. CBK - none. RW - none.

You can see the difference. That is extraordinary level of work to me. It may not be clean as I said.

It is a debate of Do you alow them do nothing and take 100% or do something and take some % away.

In my opinion, everything else should be expected from the leader/leadership. The problem is that we are so used to previous presidents accomplishing very little or nothing at all.

Bims;

No leader in SL, including MR has fulfilled teh base min of expectation. But in the case of an election it is immaterial. What I can't agree with some others is teh fact that they daydream taht some new guy inn the bloc will suddenlyt comply this. In fact in the SL life, culture and ethics framework, it is impossible for this clean man to be produced.

Going for the best option is all we can do. Otherwise it is like suffocating ourselves since air is polluted.
